"Doula" is a Greek word whose definition has come to mean a woman who helps other women. The word has further evolved to a mean a woman experienced in childbirth who provides continious physical, emotional. and informational support to the mother before, during and after childbirth.

Engaging a Doula enables mothers and their partners to have a less complicated and more rewarding birth with long-term benefits.

In times where there are less and less midwives, our support becomes more and more important.

My name is Ramona. I have four children. 

The birth of my oldest daughter (18) was ok. I didn't know anythin about giving birth and was sure that the midwives and the doctors know what to do. 

Then my second daughter (12) was born. It was a really traumatic birth. The doctor started shouting at me and pulled my husband away from me. He was violently holding my hands, in this moment, when I was weak and not able to defend myself. 

After that I was sure: next time I want a cesarian section.

Fortunately, I met a very nice midwife during my pregnancy who recommended the birth center to me. The midwives there were very concerned about me, always listened to my descriptions of the second birth, gave me comfort and were very understanding.

I gave birth to our third baby there. A boy (4). This was a wonderful childbirth and I enjoyed the intensive care during the birth and also in the hours after.

Our 4th baby, also a boy, was born in June 2022. He was a little stargazer and this birth was very exhausting and more intense than the others. I wanted to give up. But the midwives at the birth center and my husband were by my side and helped me through the birth with patience and affection and care.

The births of my sons showed me how wonderful it can be to give birth to a baby when you have a loving companion. Going into a birth free of fear, self-determined and full of joy makes an insane difference!
